Born in Slovakia, Built the Old Way

Novesta’s story starts in 1939 in the Slovak town of Partizánske, where Jan Antonín Baťa set up a factory that focused on doing things properly. Good materials. Solid construction. No shortcuts. And while most footwear brands eventually moved production somewhere cheaper or faster, Novesta stayed put. The shoes are still made in the same place, using old machines and skilled hands to bind, stitch, and vulcanize each pair.

Back in the day they produced rubber-soled footwear and work boots for people who needed dependable shoes, soldiers, factory workers, everyday folks who didn’t care about trends but cared a lot about durability. In 1992 the name Novesta officially appeared on the label, and the brand began quietly building the reputation it carries today.

The Star Master

If there’s one shoe that defines Novesta, it’s the Star Master. Simple canvas upper, chunky vulcanized rubber sole, and a shape that hasn’t needed much adjustment in decades. The sole is fused to the upper using heat and pressure instead of glue, a traditional vulcanization process that leaves small marks along the rubber. Those marks aren’t mistakes. They’re proof of how the shoe is made.

The canvas is organic cotton, the rubber natural. The result is a sneaker that breathes, flexes, and slowly molds to the way you move. Wear them long enough and they pick up the kind of patina that only honest gear develops.

Dribble

The lineup doesn’t stop at the Star Master. There’s the Star Dribble, the high-top version with the same vulcanized sole and tough construction. Different shape, same idea: straightforward sneakers made to handle everyday life.
